The Traditional Kingdom of Nkore, came into existence around the beginning of the sixteenth century and this book "A History of the Kingdom of Nkore in Western Uganda to 1896" is an attempt by Samwiri R.Karugire to trace the history on the basis of accounts handed down until the coming of the Europeans during the last decade of the nineteenth century. The reader will discover that the study is not exclusively historical or political. Religious beliefs and practices, clan organisation and other non-political aspects of Nkore society are examined in varying degrees
