  <abstract>Ghosts of Kanungu : Fertlility, Secrecy and Exchange in the Great Lakes of East Africa is a historical ethnography of the Movement for the Restoration of the Ten Commandments of God (MRTC), and of the Kanungu fire itself. A such it begins with an explanation of the social contect from which this particular African-Initiated Church (AIC) emerge in the mid-1980s, and with an attempt to define the cultural archive which informed that process of genesis.</abstract>
