Summary: Wolfgang kann sich in seiner Familie nicht mehr einordnen. Er liebt seine Mutter , hasst seinen Stiefvater und der ihn. Er wird deshalb in eine Erziehungsanstatt gesteckt : Freistatt ,eine kirchliche Jugendfürsorgeeinrichtung. Doch von Fürsorge keine Spur! Hier herrscht militärischer Drill! Die schwer erzienbaren Jungs müssen Knochenarbeit beim Torfstechen im Moor leisten. Erniedrigung, allgegenwärtige Gewalt und brutale Bestrafungen sind an der Tagesordnung. Wolfgang ist in einem Gefängnis gelandet, aus dem es kein Entkommen gibt. Er wehrt sich. Er flüchete ,wird eingefangen, hart bestraft und versucht wieder die Flucht. Doch wohin? Will man ihn zuhause überhaupt noch? Werden die Wärter in Freistatt seinen unbändigen Freiheitswillen brechen und er muss für immer bleiben? [EN] Based on a true story, this award-winning film tells of the terrible everyday life at the Freistatt Reformatory. The year is 1968, student unrest is shaping Europe, the Rolling Stones are rocking and the sexual revolution is just around the corner. A new era is dawning in Germany. At this point, rebellious 14-year-old Wolfgang is shipped off by his family to the remote Freistatt Welfare Institution, a world of locked doors, barred windows, and military drill.
