Summary, etc. Seit der Machtergreifung Hitlers leben der weltberühmte Autor Stefan Zweig und seine zweite Frau im Exil. Immer auf der Suche nach einer neuen Heimat und bemüht so vielen Freunden und Verwandten wie möglich aus Nazideutschland herauszuhelfen, reisen sie herum ,besuchen Schriftsteller-Kongresse und Freunde .Stefan Zweig versuch tsicht aus der Politik herauszuhalten ,aber innerlich verzweifelt er über die Ereignisses in Europa. Die episodisch erzählten Stationen ihrer Reise sind Rio Di Janeiro ,Buenos Aires , New York und dann wieder Brasilien. In diesem land , in Petropolis , glaubt Zweig einen Ort gefunden zu haben ,an dem er im Exil leben und arbeiten kann. Doch der Verlust seiner Heimat geht ihm nahe. Er ist nicht mehr sicher ,ob er wieder zurückkehren kann ,ob er nach der langen Nacht die Morgenröte je wieder sehen wird.
