Summary, etc. 1915 wird der armenische Schmied Nazaret von der türkischen Armee eingezogen. Er kommt jedoch zur die Wüste. Dem Massaker an den Kameraden entkommt er schwer verletzt, als Einziger! Durch einen Schnitt am Hals wird er stumm! In einem Elendslager in der Wüste berichtet ihm seine Schwägerin vor ihrem Tod ,dass die ganze Familie vernichtet wurde. Ein Fabrikant rettet Nazaret vor dem Verhungern. Er scmuggelt ihn zu sich nach Aleppo. Dort erfährt Nazaret von seinem ehemaligen Gesellen ,dass seine beiden Töchter noch leben. er begibt sich auf die Suche nach ihnen. Die Reise führt ihn nach Havanna auf Kuba. Dann in die USA, nach Minneapolis bis nach Nord Dakota. Er schlägt sich als Hilfsarbeiter durch und gibt die Hoffnung nicht auf ,die Zwillinge zu finden.
