Summary, etc. Auf einer leeren Theaterbuehne treffen sich fuenf Frauen. Sie verbindet ein gemeinsames Erlebnis, ein casting, bei dem mehrere hundert deutsche Frauen fuer einen Kunstfilm ueber inzestuoese Beziehungen zu Probeaufnahmen eingeladen wurden. Viele dieser Frauen wurden waehrend dieses Castings Opfer von Gewalt und sexuellem Missbrauch. Auch die Regisseurin von THE CASE YOU, Alison Kuhn, gehoerte damals zu den Bewerberinnen. Fuenf Jahre spaeter rekonstruieren die Frauen Schritt fuer Schritt in einem geschuetzen Rahmen, wie es zu den Uebergriffen gekommen ist. Waehrend sie die Situationen nachstellen, wird deutlich, in welchen Momenten die Grenzen ueberschritten wurden, wie die noch sehr jungen Schauspielerinnen manipuliert und unter Druck gesetzt wurden. Ein hochaktueller Film zum Theme sexueller Missbrauch und der Missbrauchskultur in der Filmindustrie; Ein performativer ueber Solidaritaet und die Chance der Selbstermaechtigung durch die gemeinsame Aufarbeitung verstoerender Ereignisse.
Summary, etc. [EN] A documentary exploration of a Me Too moment: improvisational theatre on an empty stage reconstructs a situation that both the director and the actresses experienced a few years ago. They all participated in the same audition in which the demands exceeded what they were freely willing to give. On stage, the women recreate what they remember – sexual assault, intimidation, complete bewilderment. The anger, shame and/or self-reproach they suffered afterwards is revealed in parallel in their sometimes starkly simple, sometimes highly emotional, voiceover. Rarely has the abuse of power in the film industry been as forcefully demonstrated as in THE CASE YOU.
