Summary, etc. Rostock-Lichtenhagen, im August 1992: In einer Plattenbausiedlung kämpfen arbeitslose Jugendliche gegen ihre Langeweile und ihre Frustrationen. Nachts randalieren sie gegen Polizei und Ausländer. Die Auseinandersetzungen werden so bedrohlich, dass sich die Behörden entschließen, die in einem Asylbewerberheim untergebrachten Roma aus Rumänien zu evakuieren. Als potentielle Opfer bleiben die Vietnamesen im sognannten Sonnenblumenhaus zurück. Die Krawalle eskalieren, doch die Polizei zieht sich zurück, es kommt zu einer Nacht der Gewalt – vor den Augen einer gaffenden und applaudierenden Menge.
Expansion of summary note [EN] Rostock-Lichtenhagen, August 1992: unemployed youths struggle with their boredom and frustrations in a prefabricated housing development. At night, they run riot, fighting with the police and foreigners. The confrontations become so threatening that the authorities decide to evacuate the Romanian Roma from a refugee centre. As potential victims, the Vietnamese remain in the so-called “Sonnenblumenhaus” (sunflower house). The riots escalate, but the police retreat, and a night of violence ensues – before the eyes of a gaping and applauding crowd.
